My Burger Story

I am a foodie. I like to try out new places to eat but would also like to stick to my budget and to healthy food. However, there are times that I cheat eat.

One of my favorite cheat eats is the bacon cheese burger of Minute Burger. They have burger stands all over the Philippines. They have a buy 1, take 1 marketing strategy and their prices are really low, which is good for me because I don't like to spend a lot.

I usually buy their bacon cheese burger near the bridge in my neighborhood after work in the weekdays. They have 2 personnel at this particular location and I've grown familiar to one of them.

I don't know her name but I know she is a working student and her college is found in Ecoland. She is really thin with deep set eyes. I'm not sure if it is really how her natural features or it is because of exhaustion. I think it is the latter one though. The Philippines has a lot of people and thus, buying labor here is cheap.

Whenever I buy these burgers, my heart is moved and I will give a tip to these servers. God moved my heart to kindness. I pray that they would never give up on their dreams and that God will be with them in all their endeavors and bless them.

Our God is a God of Justice and that includes social justice. This is why sometimes, we confuse missionaries with humanitarian work, such as feeding program or medical missions. To be a Christian, we have to be kind and generous as Jesus is and balance these values with discipline and hard work. I think it is good to reflect and practice the real faith.

Just yesterday, 2 young teenager missionaries just walked up to our gates in the evening. We don't like salespeople and strangers, especially that so many people are taking advantage of other people. But then, I examined them and they really looked legitimate missionaries.

Once again, God has moved my heart to listen to them for a while and I told them that we are Christians. I think that has brought them joy because once we said goodbye, he was singing a Christian song as he walked away.

It is rare to find missionaries going door - to - door nowadays. I admire these youngsters bravery and love for Christ. They might have faced a lot of rejection but I pray that God will be with them at all times and bless them.

Friends, we honor God by being kind. I hope we will remember this at all times.
